The August meeting for Outpost 1 yielded many delicious brews, but we saved the best for last. Boulevard’s 2012 Saison-Brett is a tour de force that left me believing it was the best offering I’d sampled as a member of KC Beer Scouts. The pour reveals a beautiful, full head that stays for a spell. Aromatically mild, it offers nostalgia. A walk through the flowers to Grandma’s back porch, where she has banana bread waiting for you. The taste is very complex. Similarly floral with hints of anise and pine. Evenly balanced with a clean finish, this beer is an ideal choice for an October day on a picnic with a gingham blanket.
