Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the NorCal Beer Blog’s brew review.
Tonight’s featured beer is The Bruery Ignis Fatuus – Porter Brewed With Pumpkins & Spices. I picked this up at Santa Clara Liquors (here). If you get a chance, head in there and tell ‘em that Mark from NorCal Beer Blog sent you. You’ll be glad you did – they have an incredible selection!
Commercial description: “Ignis Fatuus is a special brew created just in time for Autumn activities. The base is a rich, robust porter that was brewed with an addition of puréed pumpkins. Like all great pumpkin recipes, we then added a subtle addition of seasonal spices to balance with the roasty character. We invite you to enjoy the nuanced flavors while telling ghost stories around an illuminating jack-o’-lantern. Ignis Fatuus is best enjoyed fresh, but may develop pleasantly over time.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours dark brown, nearly black with a large tan head and lots of lacing.
Aroma: Roasted pumpkin, roast
