MARSHALL — The party started early at Dark Horse Brewing Company over the weekend for the 4 Elf party. Although the annual bottle release party officially began at 7 a.m. on Saturday when employees began accepting order forms, Facebook posts of eager fans began as early as 5 p.m. on Friday. The order forms created an efficient process for buying the special beers. Tim Major attended the 4 Elf party last year, and brought his mom Jean Major back again this year. They both had a great time. “[I] wanted to try beers that aren’t available any other time of the year,” he said. Like many others, Major’s favorite beer was the Bourbon Barrel Plead the 5th. “[It was] well balanced and delicious the whole way through.” The $5 cover charge got you into the party that lasted well into the night — unless you were dressed as an “interpretation” of an elf, which waived the fee.
