Westbrook is a brewery out of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina (which is a suburb of Charleston) that hit the ground running when they were established in 2010. One of their most popular beers, is also a very old style that Westbrook helped revive here in the US. Here’s what they have to say about their Gose: This is our interpretation of Gose (pronounced “goes-uh”), a beer brewed with coriander and salt. Once nearly extinct, this very refreshing style is making a comeback. Westbrook Gose The can says on it “Sour-Salty-Delicious” and it’s hard to argue. Weighing in at a mere 4% ABV, this German-style wheat beer is brewed with sea salt and coriander, and sports a distinct tartness. It pours a cloudy golden straw color and the saltiness is immediately evident on the nose. The first sip is certainly sour and salty, and if you’re not used to those characteristics, it can take you by surprise.
