Abita Octoberfest

Abita retired their Fall Fest beer in 2013 and introduced a rebranded version last year. Abita Octoberfest is the new fall seasonal and is available now pretty much everywhere Abita is sold. Here’s what they have to say about it:

Abita Octoberfest (September – November) is a German style lager. This full bodied malty lager has a copper color and is hopped and dry hopped with German Hallertau hops giving it a pleasant, spicy hop aroma that’s just right for the season.

Octoberfest pours a golden copper color and has a nice fluffy head. The sweetness and breadiness is immediately apparent on the nose, but I got little hop aroma (disclaimer: I’m a huge hophead, so subtle hop aromas are pretty much lost on me). The taste is all about the sweet malt with notes of biscuit and little hops. At 5.4% ABV, this beer certainly reminds me of fall and the traditional German Oktoberfest season.
