Let’s have another Deschutes Black Butte Porter. And another. #allforthecity A lovely October evening is winding down and I’m settling in to watch some playoff soccer. October means Fall, the season in which everyone’s stuffing their eatables and drinkables with pumpkin spice. Which means I’m recoiling in horror and looking for malty things. Enter Deschutes Black Butte Porter, a fine offering of Cascadian bliss. What’s that you say? Yes, this is a beer brewed in the Pacific Northwest and Sporting KC’s opponent is the Seattle Sounders. But this beauty was brewed in Portland and by drinking it I’m waving a middle finger to those fish-hurling, Starbucks-chugging pine needles. Deschutes doesn’t brew anything that disappoints and this offering is no exception. Like most porters it’s bursting with delicious, bready malt but without the burnt edge its lesser competition tends to yield.
