DC Brau Shakes Up Flagships, Benches Citizen, Adds Hazy IPA

DC Brau’s gold-canned Citizen Belgian-style ale has been a mainstay of its rotation since the brewery launched in 2011, but it will take a backseat next month to make room for Joint Resolution, a new hazy IPA.

Citizen will convert to a seasonal offering but won’t be back until early fall 2020.

“We’ve seen a significant shift in the palates of our consumer over the past eight years, and feel like it’s a good time to freshen up our core, year-round offerings with a Hazy IPA,” says CEO & co-founder of DC Brau Brandon Skall via a press release. “The Citizen remains a favorite style of ours, and we look forward to bringing it back as a seasonal just in time for what will surely be an interesting election season.”

The newcomer, Joint Resolution, is a hazy IPA coming in at 5.5% ABV. It will include Michigan Copper and Chinook hops for “an approachable level of bitterness.” The malt bill includes Canadian Pale 2-row, White Wheat, Flaked Oats, Carafoam and Acidulated malts.
