Canteen becomes the latest brewery to step up to help people in Ukraine

Get thee to the Canteen patio on Saturday and a $1 from every pint you buy will go to help people in Ukraine.

Our local breweries continue to do their part to help the victims of the terrible war in Ukraine, with Canteen the latest to offer its support in what it hopes will become an annual tradition of helping worthy causes the best way a brewery can — by selling beer.

Day Drinking for a Cause is a new charity endeavor created by Canteen general manager Jamie Schwebach. It will be held this Saturday at the main location from noon to 10 p.m., with the goal of then making it an annual tradition.

“We plan to host this event the last Saturday in April in the years going forward, with the charity rotating every year depending on what is needed,” Schwebach wrote to us on email. “This year $1 from every pint sold will be donated to Doctors without Borders to help the folks in the Ukraine.”

There will also be commemorative shirts and pint glasses for sale to further help raise
