Only a handful of New Mexico breweries enter the GABF competition in 2020

No one will be attending the GABF awards ceremony in person like in past years, but the show must go on (virtually) for 2020.

Though the actual festival part of the Great American Beer Festival did not happen this year in Denver, the competition for medals still went on, albeit with far fewer New Mexico breweries participating than in years past.

As of the time of publication of this article, only 10 breweries (UPDATE: now it’s 12) told us that they took part in the blind judging competition, the results of which will be broadcast online today (Friday) at 5 p.m. In contrast, 16 breweries said they did not enter beers this time around, which is fairly understandable considering the current economic conditions and the cost of $160 per beer submitted.

Notable names not participating at GABF this year include Marble Brewery, the 2014 Small Brewery of the Year, as well as past medal winners such as Blue Corn Brewery and Tumbleroot Brewery and Distillery. Other breweries that said no this ye
