Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the NorCal Beer Blog’s brew review.
Tonight’s featured beer is Texian Brewing Company First Stand Belgian-Style Saison. I picked up this bottle at Lonestar Beverages (here) in Carrollton, TX.
From the Texian Brewing Company website: “In the Fall of 1835, Mexico was experiencing turmoil that caused them to tighten their grips on their states and territories. This angered the Texian settlers because they felt that their freedoms and representation rights were being taken away. Years before, the army had given the town of Gonzales a cannon for protection. Now that the area was getting restless, the army sought to re-take the cannon. The Texians called out for help and soon the town swelled with reinforcements. As the Mexican army, under the command of Colonel Domingo Ugartechea, arrived to see the Texian fort with the “Come and Take It” flag proudly waiving.
