Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s eight breweries, one in Los Alamos, one in Moriarty, one in Red River, one in Silver City, and one in Truth or Consequences also joining the party. We have long maintained that the stretch from the end of summer to the dead of winter is our favorite time of year for beers, as so many of our favorite styles appear. In addition to the malt-forward marzens, now arriving on tap and sometimes even in cans are the wet-hop beers. Wet, or fresh hops are those harvested from the fields, and then thrown straight into beers instead of being pelletized for future use.
