If you step into 8 Degrees Plato Beer Company on the right day, you might be required to literally step over the massive amounts of beer piled into their Ferndale store. “The best night for the store is probably Thursday night, after the last trucks come in,” said part owner Tim Costello. “By that Sunday, the store will be empty.” Costello, a former stand-up comedian, was accustomed to trying many different beers while out on the road. When his comedic career came to an end, he went back to school at Eastern Michigan University where he obtained an entrepreneurial degree. It’s also where he came up with the business plan for the store. “It was an idea that my business partner and I had and we used the last couple of semesters at Eastern to iron it out,” he said. “When we looked for a spot, we found Ferndale.
