It’s not that kind of beer cooler. Beer Anyone? by fensterbme, on Flickr Yeah, what’s new. We don’t get into politics much (if ever) on KC Beer Scouts; it’s not what you come here for. But this is about local craft beer and our ability to find and buy it. So we’re diving in on this issue. The Missouri Small Brewers Guild has issued a press release stating their opposition to legislation currently in the works in Jefferson City. Anheuser-Busch InBev wrote the bill, and it began in the Senate. With debate, Senators, including Kansas City’s Jason Holsman, amended the bill with input from actual Missouri brewers, and it eventually passed out of the Seante. My source in the Capitol said the version that passed was significantly better than the one originally proposed, but still has flaws. It didn’t matter, though, since SB 919 is not scheduled for debate in the House. Not to be deterred, AB-InBev has attached similar legislation onto a different bill ostensibly about wine regulation … |
