Brew Day 2: Swimming with stouts at Chama River

As advertised Friday, the Crew got another opportunity to make a beer at a local brewery this weekend. On the heels of our trip to Canteen to create Dark Side Baltic Porter, this time around we went to Chama River to join Zach and David and create Obey the Darkside, a foreign export stout for the ages. Only Brandon and I (Stoutmeister) were able to participate this time, but Bullpen members Luke and AmyO did stop by later to observe, learn, and of course share in some of the beer and food our hosts provided.

It was a good day to brew with two good guys who have done a great job since taking over at Chama. As we did last time, we’ll let the pictures we took tell the story. We’ll just print ‘em a little bigger this time so you can see what’s going on.

Stoutmeister adds some specialty malts to the mill.

Brandon mashes in some pretty thick stuff. How thick? See next photo.

We would say we discovered max capacity
