After a brief email exchange with Donnie Matthews at Major Brands, the distributor who will be handling the account, we can confirm that the Brooklyn Brewery will be in Kansas City in 2017. “I don’t have a solid date, but certainly hope we can have it on the streets in KC before the fourth quarter,” he wrote. That’s news to celebrate this weekend. If you don’t know about Brooklyn Brewery, they produce some outstanding beer, including Sorachi Ace, a saison; Black Chocolate Stout, one of the smoothest imperial stouts I’ve had; and Local 1 and Local 2, Belgian-style abbey ales. Their brewmaster is Garrett Oliver, author of one of my favorite guides to beer and food, the Brewmaster’s Table.
