WARREN — Located in a huge building just down the street from Kuhnhenn Brewery, Champane’s Wine Cellars has long been known as a destination for Michigan beer. Yes, the name sounds like the delicious bubbly special occasion beverage, but it is actually the owner’s last name — Dean Champane is the long standing owner of the store. According to its website, Champane’s is Michigan’s largest wine, liquor and beer store. Walking in the door, it looks like the adult beverage equivalent of Costco — rows and rows and rows of wine, liquor and beer. But, let’s focus on the beer — the selection is vast. Each aisle has signage, indicating the beer category. There are hard to find beers, the introduction to craft beer options and the usual suspects. And a highlight — the Michigan beer selection is extensive. In a surprise decorating twist, the store has hunting trophies throughout the store – many exotic animals in giant glass cases.
