Chubby Chipmunk Chocolates You may have read about wine tasting with cheese and chocolates, but have you ever thought about pairing chocolate with beer? I have. Read on for more on this subject. My first amazing experience was during the summer of 2012 pairing a chocolate truffle with an aged barleywine. The outcome was amazing, so when I saw a public television program called Dakota Life describing Chubby Chipmunk in Deadwood, I thought a chocolate beer pairing was needed. The program was called “The Sweet Life”. I fired off an e-mail to the business. Mary “Chip” Tautkus soon responded to the e-mail and a pairing was arranged. Six different truffles were sent to try. An article from the Craft Beer Association was used to help guide the pairings. My friends and I shared various amazing beers in an afternoon tasting. In general chocolate pairs best with darker beers such as porters, stouts, barrel-aged beers and sours. Lighter beers and India pale ales don’t pair as well. Six different … |
