Dakota Beverage

Beer arrives at our favorite bar, restaurant or store through a three tier system of brewery – distributor – retail establishment. Only a small group of distributors operate in South Dakota. Dakota Beverage is a beer distributor in Sioux Falls. The company was started in 1953 by John (Jack) Gores and has grown to 105 employees. John Gores, Jack’s son, is the current company owner. They distribute beer to a large part of eastern South Dakota serving 400,000 people. They moved into their new warehouse and offices in March 2014. The 105,000 sq. ft. building is located at 4532 N. Cliff Avenue.

The first thing I noticed on arrival was the large barley impressions on the building which are pretty cool!  The hosts for my visit were David Pesicka, New Belgium South Dakota Beer Ranger, and Brandon May, Craft Manager for Dakota Beverage. This new facility allows Dakota Beverage to serve their customers with a centralized site and increased storage. Their beer orders are assembled
