What do you do when you want a place to enjoy a handcrafted pint close to home, but the nearest brewery is miles away? If you’re Dearborn resident John Rucinski, you start a brewery yourself. Rucinski, a seasoned home brewer, is in the process of opening Dearborn Brewing — the city’s first microbrewery — at 21930 Michigan Avenue in downtown west Dearborn. As a Dearborn High graduate who currently lives in a neighborhood that Henry Ford built, he said it was “Dearborn or bust” with the project. “My wife and I really like the area, and it seemed like there was a chance to make something happen here,” said Rucinski. “So we decided to take a chance and go for it. And the response we’ve gotten has been fantastic.” Rucinski, who works as an analyst for Nissan North America, has been home brewing for more than 14 years, mostly with an all-grain system that he still brews on in his garage.
