I freely state I do not care for lagers. However, when it comes to lagers I keep finding myself saying “except” a lot. Perhaps I’m becoming more accepting of a wider array of beer styles or, perhaps, breweries that I trust and expect great things from keep sending hits over the fence. On deck tonight is Highland Brewing Company’s Wolfgang 1756. What’s in a name? A lot in this one. This beer is a collaboration with the Asheville Symphony Orchestra to celebrate The Amadeus Festival which runs from March 17-22 in good ole AVL. ow, the beer. This is a classic Vienna-style lager. It pours with just a touch of head and has a bread-like scent with a hint of caramel. Hops are low in this cat – IBUs are cranking in at 14.
