Hopps of Fun brings beer to Big Mac

With blue skies and the Mackinac Bridge in the background, the 18th annual Hopps of Fun kept the casual spirit of summer alive in Mackinaw City on Saturday. Thousands flocked to the city at the tip of the Mitten to be a part of the festival.

“We had our biggest turnout, and were also able to have more beer and wine tastings this year,” stated Mackinaw Crossings Property Manager Sarah Grant.

With a small entrance fee of $5, festival-goers received a commemorative glass along with two tasting tokens. A wide selection of wine and beer from across the state was available to sample. From Rochester Mills’ Oktoberfest to Arbor Brewing’s Mackinac Island Fudge Stout, beer lovers of all kinds were sure to find something to enjoy.

While sampling a favorite Michigan brew or exploring a new brewery, festival-goers enjoyed live music from local musicians. There was also a full pig roast to keep the days of summer alive.

The festival added a dimension to Mackinaw City, which is known primarily for it
