Horseshoes & Hand Grenades APA (American Pale Ale) is a special release from the Central Waters Brewing Company. It is a good “change up beer” if you like pale ales like I do. I found that I was a little fatigued with Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. It is a great classic craft beer with notes of grapefruit and pine in the aroma, but I was looking for a slightly different taste. The Sierra Nevada Pale Ale contains Cascade hops which were new in the 80’s. The Horseshoes & Hand Grenades (HHG) updates the American pale ale with Mosaic and Citra hops. The hops combine for a delicious combination of tropical fruit, citrus, pine, grapefruit and melon in the aroma. See my tasting notes below. HHG pours out a hazy gold with a white head into a pint glass. The aroma and taste are a mixture of citrus, grapefruit and tropical fruits. It is very tasty!
