Anheuser-Busch Inbev has completed its sales of its Grupo Modelo US business to Constellation Brands Inc. for $4.75bn. The sale of A-B InBev’s distribution rights to the Grupo Modelo brands within the US market was necessary in order for A-B InBev to complete its $20.1bn purchase of the remaining 50% of the Mexican company Grupo Modelo. Originally the US Dept of Justice had allowed the purchase to go ahead but then blocked it due to anti-competitive concerns over the deal.

Constellation Brands are primarily a wine conglomerate and through this new deal now have access to Corona and Pacifico brands of beer. Following the deals the shares of both companies rose on the stock markets. For further details please see the following articles:

Burglar caught by DNA on beer can

A suspect was arrested following a burglary in upstate New York after DNA was taken from a beer can left at the scene of the break-in. Moses Wilson had allegedly broken into a vacant property to steal copper wiring and found an unopened case of beer. The cans which were drunk were collected as evidence and analyzed.
