This weekend provides a plethora of beer related activities in the Capital City. May 3rd is National Homebrew Day, and homebrewers across the country will be brewing beers of all types to celebrate. I’m quite certain that LA Homebrew will be hosting a homebrew demonstration at their store, like they do nearly every Saturday. So, if you’re interested in learning just how easy it is to brew your own beer, go check them out. Also on Saturday evening is the 5th annual Happy’s 5K, held in downtown Baton Rouge. This is probably the best road 5K in the city, and is the spinoff of the popular Tuesday night running group sponsored by Happy’s Irish Pub. Their slogan is “Run. Drink. Be Happy.” Good words to live by. Pre-registration has closed, but you can register on race day beginning at 5 PM. The 5K starts at 6 PM, followed by the beer mile (sold out) at 7:30.
