This morning brought us the sudden and sad news that Meridian Pint will be closing in Columbia Heights. In a letter to the Prince of Petworth blog, owner Johnny Andrade notes that Pint “will have it’s final Easter Brunch on Sunday, April 21st, 2019 then permanently close at 4 pm.” Andrade was planning to open Dominion Pint on Wilson Boulevard in Arlington later in 2019. He revealed that this bar and restaurant will now be called Meridian Pint-Arlington. We have heard from staff at Meridian Pint, who say that they will have jobs in Arlington if they’d like, though some will obviously be moving on. We don’t know what will happen to the Meridian Pint space, though given its nine-year run on 11th street, it’s possible that a ten-year lease was up. Pint was the first restaurant in the city to pour DC Brau, which launched eight years ago to the day, and pointedly poured only beer made in the United States.
