A pair of regional breweries have big news on new releases that kick off brand new beer series. Free State Dirty Kansa & the Front Porch SeriesStarting closest to home, yesterday Free State Brewing released Dirty Kansa Kölsch, the first beer in their new Front Porch Series. A Kölsch-style beer is native to Cologne, Germany and is a clean, semi-fruity pale beer brewed with ale yeast but held cold for some time to gain some lager-like qualities. Free State describes their beer as having “bready malt aroma and flavor over a clean, crisp finish. Effervescent and refreshing. Balanced. Slightly spicy subdued hop finish from Saphir hops. Highly drinkable.” Yum. The Free State Dirty Kansa Kölsch should be popping up around Kansas City liquor stores any time now.
