My last beer review was on New Belgium’s seasonal: Pumpkick in which I channeled my inner ugg-wearing-Starbucks-drinking high schooler. This one is much different. I’m currently in the middle of a nice glass of North Coast’s Old Rasputin; a Russian Imperial Stout at 9% ABV. So, this one I’m channeling my inner plaid-wearing-I-only-drink-whiskey-except-on-Tuesdays 40-year-old jaded dude. I don’t know why I personified this beer as this character, but it works. I can’t remember exactly what beer I had that turned me on to craft beer, but this beer has been there for me since the beginning. It has been through palate changes and sicknesses and I still can’t get enough of it. If it’s on tap anywhere, that’s what I’m drinking; my go-to stout. As weird as it sounds, Old Raspy has a bubble taste to it. I know it’s weird, but when I was just getting in to craft beer, I noticed that my palate picked up bubbles and soapiness from stouts and somehow it worked for me. No, I wasn’t one of tho … |
