North Coast Old Rasputin by Brie

My last beer review was on New Belgium’s seasonal: Pumpkick in which I channeled my inner ugg-wearing-Starbucks-drinking high schooler.

This one is much different.

I’m currently in the middle of a nice glass of North Coast’s Old Rasputin; a Russian Imperial Stout at 9% ABV.

So, this one I’m channeling my inner plaid-wearing-I-only-drink-whiskey-except-on-Tuesdays 40-year-old jaded dude.

I don’t know why I personified this beer as this character, but it works.

I can’t remember exactly what beer I had that turned me on to craft beer, but this beer has been there for me since the beginning. It has been through palate changes and sicknesses and I still can’t get enough of it. If it’s on tap anywhere, that’s what I’m drinking; my go-to stout.

As weird as it sounds, Old Raspy has a bubble taste to it. I know it’s weird, but when I was just getting in to craft beer, I noticed that my palate picked up bubbles and soapiness from stouts and somehow it worked for me. No, I wasn’t one of tho
