Pizzeria Paradiso’s locations in Hyattsville, Dupont, Georgetown, and Old Town Alexandria will celebrate Orval Day on Saturday, March 24th, with bottles of Orval’s Trappist Ale. Orval was the first beer to come to the U.S. made using a yeast variety called “Brett,” (brettanomyces) which adds sharp acidity and dryness. Orval only brews the Trappist Ale in the Notre Dame d’Orval Monastery in Belgium and the beer’s distributors call on Trappist Ale lovers to celebrate the delicious brew on Orval Day with a portion of proceeds going to charity. This year’s charity is MAP International, an organization that provides medical care to children and families in more than 100 countries. Orval-lovers and those who have never tried the beer are invited to celebrate it on March 24th at their nearest Pizzeria Paradiso location.
