Republic’s First Annual Freedom Fest

From a press release:

On Friday, July 4, Republic will celebrate Independence Day as well as the passage of a new Montgomery County law, with an all-day local beer and barbecue festival, featuring live music. The new law allows restaurants the freedom to purchase  beer directly from microbreweries, making craft beer more affordable and easier to purchase. Chef and partner Danny Wells will prepare a spread of slow smoked pork BBQ, BBQ tofu, cheddar biscuits, deviled eggs, cookies and an array of seasonal fixings such as cole slaw, grilled corn on the cob, and heirloom tomato salad. Bar manager Brett Robison, a newly Certified Cicerone®, will serve over 25 different craft beers from local producers such as Port City Brewing Company, The Brewer’s Art, DC Brau Brewing Company, Full Tilt Brewing, the forthcoming Denizens Brewing Company of Silver Spring, who will be debuting their beer for the first time; as well as many more local breweries.
