I remember well the first time I had this beer. I was in Blacksburg, Virginia on business with Andy Brantley. We were hunting beer and ended up at a place called Blacksburg Taphouse. I remember being so impressed with this beer that I not only ordered another but before we left Virginia, I had found a bottle to bring home. Since then, whenever I think of Starr Hill Brewery, I think of Little Red Roostarr. This is a full-bodied milk stout brewed with coffee from Red Rooster Coffee Roasters in Floyd, Virgina. The coffee that goes into this beer is awesome – I’ve gotten the opportunity to try it and thoroughly enjoyed it. In the beer or not, it rocks.

This beer pours with a nice black body, a small head and nice lacing around the glass. On the nose I get coffee, caramel and chocolate. These scents carry into the flavor – both sweet and bitter. The coffee and lactose play very well together. While the coffee fills the mouth, the sweetness is what lingers between sips.
