Take 16 Brewing Company The Take 16 Brewing Company of Luverne, Minnesota gets their name from the brewery location on old Highway 16 (east end of Main Street). It was a route for travelers from Chicago and the Midwest to the Black Hills and Yellowstone Park. I grew up and and worked in several towns along the route (Kimball, Mitchell & Chamberlain, SD). I can remember long lines of tourists headed west before the coming of the interstate. Old Highway 16 has largely been replaced by I 90 today. But enough about old memories and onto the brewery. Luke Rensink I met brewer Luke Rensink several years ago when he was co-owner of Heist Brewing in Brookings. He now is the brewer for Take 16 and is making beers worth seeking out. I traveled to Luverne last week to check in and see the brewery. I hadn’t been there since last September when the Rock River Beer Festival was held. The brewery was still being setup then.
