Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the NorCal Beer Blog’s brew review.
Tonight’s featured beer is The Rare Barrel Forces Unseen – Golden Sour Beer Aged In Oak Barrels.
From the The Rare Barrel website: “Forces Unseen is a blend of three different golden sour beers aged in oak barrels. The forces behind this yeast and bacteria driven sour include a combination of two strains of Brettanomyces, two strains of Lactobacillus, and one strain of Pediococcus. Moderately sour and well-balanced, this golden sour beer has notes of stone fruits and lemon zest.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours a cloudy light gold color with a small white head leaving nearly no lacing.
Aroma: Brett and Lacto funk, lemon, peach and slight vanilla notes.
Taste: Sour lemon, peach, apricot, vanilla, funky Brett, slight bready malts and mineral flavors.
