Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s seven breweries, one in Los Alamos, one in Moriarty, one in Red River, one in Silver City, and one in Truth or Consequences also joining the party. Throughout the year, there are many great drinking holidays, some official, some unofficial. Many of those days require a specific beer style (or two), and breweries often get an early start on preparing by releasing those beers early. With St. Patrick’s Day visible on the horizon, Boxing Bear is releasing its Red Knuckle Irish Red on tap and in cans this Saturday at both locations. This will be the first canning run for this tasty Irish red ale, so we will be making some room in the beer fridge.
