The Wise Owl Implores You to Drink Bell’s Best Brown Ale This Fall

Fall is the best time of year.  College football, sweatshirt weather, homemade chili, and nice malty beers1 like Bell’s Best Brown Ale.

Hailing from my home state of Michigan and available, like, everywhere, the humbly-named Bell’s Best Brown Ale is a toasty yet relatively light-bodied American Brown Ale with notes of caramel, cocoa, brown sugar and that dark bread you get at Outback Steakhouse before your Bloomin’ Onion arrives.

Do what the damn owl says.

Best Brown Ale makes me think of the fall.2  The label features a stoic owl intimidating you from afar in a tree covered with leaves that have shifted to orange, yellow, and red.  Marketing aesthetics aside, this is the beer you want when you’re gathered around a chiminea with friends on a crisp September/October night or parked in front of your TV with something in your crockpot for a noon kickoff.

For all its sweetness, it’s pretty well balanced with a noticeable contribution from American hops.  Not overly boozy at 5.8% AB
