Hey there, I’ve been kinda slacking on the beer reviews lately, so it’s high time I get back to doing some. Today’s offering is from one of Louisiana’s newest production breweries, Urban South, in New Orleans. According to Urban South, Holy Roller IPA is “brewed with Mosaic and Citra hops – a bold IPA for all of us caught between best intentions and bad behavior.” It weighs in at 6.3% ABV with 60 IBUs. Holy Roller is available on draft and in cans around the New Orleans area. I poured a can of Holy Roller with a date of 4/8/2016 (2 weeks old at tasting time) into a can glass (see the pic if you don’t know what I mean). The first thing I noticed was how hazy/cloudy it was, which I’m digging these days. It’s a beautiful orange color with a slightly off-white head, and nicely carbonated. The aroma has tropical, citrus and grapefruit notes as well as a touch of malt and crackers. It’s not a hop bomb on the nose, and I’d personally like a little more in the way of a hoppy aroma.
