Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the NorCal Beer Blog’s brew review.
Tonight’s featured beer is Avery Brewing Company The Beast Grand Cru Ale – Ale With Raisins, Dates, Molasses And Honey – Released July 2013 – Batch No. 11 – 622 Cases.
From the Avery Brewing Company website: “The Beast is a seducer – accomodating, complicated, powerful, dark and created to last the ages. With a deep burgundy color and aromas of honey, nutmeg, mandarin orange and pineapple, this massive and challenging brew has flavors akin to a beautiful Carribean rum. Dates, plums, raisins and molasses are dominant in a rich vinous texture. Cellarable for 10+ years.
The Beast is the first installment of “The Demons of Ale” series.”

Appearance: Pours a hazy orangish-brown with a large tan colored head and great lacing.
Aroma: Dark fruits, molasses, sweet caramel malt, citrus, tropical fruit, toffee, honey, spice and very boozy.
Taste: Sweet caramel, honey, dark fruits, pineapple, bready
