Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s four breweries and a pair of newcomers, one down in Socorro and the other in Los Alamos, also joining the party. In honor of Star Wars, or more likely just because it is getting darned cold out there (seriously, covering this year’s high school state soccer tournament was friggin’ miserable), the imperial stouts are starting to emerge from their long periods of fermentation. To kick things off, Blue Corn is having a release party for their always epic Russian Imperial Stout, a 10-percent ABV behemoth of darkness, this Thursday at 6 p.m. For $10 you get a bowl of Uncommon French Onion Soup with your beer.
